One of the best things for us when we run trails is the awareness of the realness of our lives. The Two Oceans is a popular run in Cape Town, yet the Ocean2Ocean was previously known as the real 2 Oceans! Perhaps because it’s a trail run that traverses over Table Mountain instead around it. Maybe. Maybe, because comparisons are a curse in that we do not want to compare one run to another, or anything from another for that matter.

Either way, running the Ocean2Ocean 50 km Trail Run on a full day out traversing Table Mountain’s central and northern sections is as unique in the feeling of being real it gave me as it is experiencing a real Ultra Trail run. This Tale depicts a great day out training on the mountain with a small group of like-minded trail runners.

The Ocean2Ocean is a linear point to point run starting in False Bay’s coastal suburb of Muizenberg, and ending in the suburb of Camps Bay alongside the Atlantic Ocean.
