Wolfberg Arch – Cederberg Wilderness Area

The wonder of Creation always evokes discovery. And being little, for Josiah and Jethro limitations exist in this regard. Until they realise how far they can go, simply because their inquisitiveness perks an interest that says they can go a little further each time they step out on a trail…

In November 2024 it was the magnitude of the Wolfberg Cracks in the rugged Cederberg that opened up excitement for small passages amongst hard rocks. A year later it was about going further along the same trail that led to an arch which pushed the wonder to intrigue as the iconic landmark loomed large overhead and obliterated any thought that long trails are a step too far…even for the so-called little.

This Tale showcases an epic nine-hour and 16-kilometre adventure on a hot early summer day in the exquisite Cederberg:

The intrigue of the arch, above right, invites one to get closer, yet the approximate 5 kilometre distance to get there after emerging from the cracks can often prove to be more relentless than expected.
