Tea Break – Bedouin Style

Drinking tea, lots of tea, is a favourite past time, or rather, a favourite beverage for the Bedouin living in the Wadi Rum of Jordan.

This tea, experienced in the smallest of cups, is a mixture of natural resources grown in the desert. These ingredients consist of hibiscus, cardamom and a bit of cinnamon, as well as added sugar or honey. Prepared over the fire, this was a delightful sense to our taste buds as we finished off hard days of hiking in the desert.



The three day, 40 kilometre hike took us through some vast, open, desert landscapes, sleeping in traditional Bedouin tents…with plenty of tea to go around. Here is our Tale:
